TRENDSETTING - A Coastal Chic Styled Shoot on Anna Maria Island

The Waterline Marina Resort and Beach Club is one of many resorts in the Autograph Collection hotels, which are specially designed to be unique to their locations. The Waterline on Anna Maria Island was designed with an emphasis on island life and elegant coastal chic vibes. So this styled shoot incorporates the cool, laidback attributes of living on an island with the upscale, chic details of the luxury Autograph Collection resort. Shades of ivory and ocean blues were accented with natural seaside greenery, nautical elements like driftwood, and pops of pearlescent shells throughout.

Brittany and Elliott - A Navy and Coral Nautical Wedding

Brittany and Elliott - A Navy and Coral Nautical Wedding

When Elliott told Brittany that they would be engaged by the end of the year, and the months passed by and suddenly it was December 31st, Brittany was starting to wonder if it was actually going to happen!  She even joked with Elliott, "You know what today is?  It's the last day of the year!" hoping to get a read on him, but he didn't take the bait and he ended up just going fishing with his friends that day like it was any other weekend.  Little did she know that Elliott was thinking about waiting until the year had passed and proposing on January 1st, just to throw her off!  But he decided not to wait any longer, and he proposed as they headed out for a New Year's Eve party so that Brittany could show off her gorgeous new engagement ring to all of her friends and family she would see that night!

The couple chose their venue for the waterfront views that would be perfect for their nautical nuptials, since they love fishing and boating together.  This style direction, along with their coral, navy, and gold color scheme, inspired maritime details such as gold lanterns for décor, rope wrapped cans and jars, painted bottles, anchor stir sticks, and rope knot table numbers.  Most of the decorations were DIY projects, including the flag ribbon boutonnieres, chevron table runners, and the ribbon curtain backdrop for the gazebo.  And what better favor to give guests than custom koozies!?  Each koozie held a mason jar for guests to use at the bar throughout the evening, and they were displayed in rows escort card flags affixed to drinking straws as a fun twist for guests finding their seats!

Amanda and Brad - An Old Florida Nautical Wedding

Amanda and Brad - An Old Florida Nautical Wedding

Brad & Amanda met while working at Publix during high school (spoiler alert: her Maid of Honor contacted Publix corporate office and had a pair of custom aprons made for them as a surprise gift - so cute!). Amanda knew she wanted a wedding at a historic venue on the water, and upon seeing the Powel Crosley Estate (particularly the compass room) the Old Florida Nautical wedding style was conceived. We incorporated lanterns, stacks of antique books wrapped with twine, fishing orbs, and loose natural floral arrangements. Even the little escort cards were meant to look like markers in the sea. Their menu reflected Florida cuisine (and their love of seafood) including a Florida Grouper topped with mango salsa and shrimp.

Brittney and Robby - A Chic Nautical Wedding in St. Petersburg

Brittney and Robby - A Chic Nautical Wedding in St. Petersburg

Brittney and Robbie's gorgeous wedding combined elements of tradition and elegance. Brittney’s “Yacht Club Chic” wedding style translated into classic details such as monogrammed stationery and a dramatic cathedral veil, as well as nautical details such as navy jackets paired with khaki slacks, an oar guestbook, and gold rope chair sashes.  The sun smiled down on Straub Park where the wedding party took gorgeous waterfront photos before the ceremony.  The nuptials were held at the Cathedral of St. Jude where the bride’s parents exchanged their own wedding vows and her grandparents were original parishioners of the church. As the sun faded into the night, the couple celebrated their reception at the grand St. Pete Coliseum where lush creamy florals accented with lemon slices and buttery roses and calla lilies filled the room. Personalized wine bottles served as table numbers, perfect for wine service during dinner. Music from a live band kept the party’s energy soaring long into the evening, before the couple departed in their family convertibles (one in Gator blue and one in Seminole garnet as a nod to the couple’s alma matars).
